Meet the Team: Ontology Harbinger, Andrej
What’s your name and where are you from?
I’m Andrej. I’m originally from Latvia, however, I now live in Germany.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What are your hobbies?
I work in the IT field and my hobby is creating websites. Outside of the tech world, my interests include nature. I love studying and learning about hummingbirds, they’re a unique bird with super strength. I find them very interesting.
What kind of work do you do on a day-to-day basis?
I am an ambassador for the Ontology blockchain. I joined the project at its very inception, having invested my savings back in 2017, and in 2021, I became an Ontology harbinger. I also work in a computer company as a technician.
In your opinion, what makes Ontology stand out from other blockchains?
I would say that the highlight of Ontology’s offering is its Decentralized Identity (DID) products.
When this technology starts to take root in the real world, it will have an incredible impact. There are so many use cases in our everyday lives for this technology, as well as applications that could potentially change the world. DIDs can completely redefine areas like cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, supply chains, and civic participation, but they’ll also play a huge role in addressing human rights issues and furthering innovation.
I try to draw the attention of other people to this project as much as possible! I engage in discussions about what blockchain is, how important DIDs are, and how they can be used in hospitals, cars, or government agencies, among other industry uses. There are so many things that can be improved by the introduction of a trusted, verifiable identity. DIDs improve our interactions with both technology and the world around us.
What are you most excited for in your future at Ontology?
I hope that I can achieve even more great success in my future with Ontology.
As we mark Ontology’s five-year anniversary, where do you see Ontology and Web3 going in the next five years?
I really hope that, by promoting DIDs, this project will help to firmly integrate Web3 with the real world, even amidst the current ‘field conditions’. Everything is based on money now, so when using Web3 services, it will be important that Ontology maintains its strong reputation for security and transparency! The latest events involving the FTX exchange have shown this to be particularly evident.
